Open Research

What is reproducibility?

Reproducibility is being able to replicate another researcher's findings using the same materials and methods.

Why is reproducibility important?

Research builds on what others have done before. Reproducibility supports integrity, transparency, and trust in research. This plays a crucial role in the advancement of knowledge.

How can I help make my data more reproducible?

Good documentation is essential. In publications, as the space for materials and methods is often limited. So, the details needed to fully reproduce the work may be missing. Consider making your full protocol or methods open alongside your data. This will allow others to be able to better understand your research and/or replicate any findings or claims in your work.

Does reproducibility matter across all disciplines?

Reproducibility might be less relevant in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. These disciplines often focus on qualitative research. When handling qualitative data, you can still ensure your research is rigorous, including in your research questions, methods, and analyses. You can also make these open when you publish your findings.
